Two years since the first look release and a year since the title poster release, there is finally an update on Dulquer Salmaan's highly hyped project Kurup. Director Srinath Rajendran took to his social media page on Sunday to notify that his film finally went on floors after 5 years of hard-work and shared a fan-made poster featuring his lead actor in it.
Kurup is Srinath Rajendran's second collaboration with Dulquer Salmaan after the latter's debut Second Show and it is based on the real story of Kerala's most wanted criminal Sukumara Kurup.
In an attempt at Rs. 8 lakh insurance fraud, Sukumara Kurup faked his own death by killing a man named Chacko on January 21, 1984 and staged the burnt body as his own in a car. Kurup has has since been absconding while two of his co-conspirators in the Chacko murder - driver Ponnappan and brother-in-law Bhaskar Pillai, were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
In July, 2018 nearly 34 years since the murder, Chacko's widow Santhamma publicly forgave the culprits after arranging a meeting with them through religious moderators.
