Legally Allowed to work in Tamil Films: Chinmayi Sripaada

PUBLISHED DATE | 25/Apr/2019

During the MeToo onslaught that raged through India last year, singer cum voice artiste Chinmayi had shared accounts of sexual harassment committed by actor Radha Ravi, who also happens to be the president of the dubbing union.

Soon-after Chimnayi was removed from the South Indian Cine Television Artist Dubbing Union (SICTADU)  as a basic member alleging pending payment of membership fee and breaking of the union bylaw which states that no member can go to the police or media against the union.

This prevented Chinmayi from working in any Tamil movie and to get reinstated SICTADU cited an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh to be paid along with an apology letter.

In March, 2019 Chinmayi was awarded an interim stay order on her work-ban by the court and she had at that time stated, "It is only an interim stay order...Going by the experiences of the members who have been previously terminated by the union, it's indeed going to be a long legal battle."

Now the singer in a tweet has updated that the court has extended the stay on her work-ban which means that she is legally allowed to work in Tamil films despite her battle with the Dubbing union.
