The history surrounding the great Chola Emperors, is being brought  in episodes for the virtual world by Soundarya Rajinikanth for her digital company May 6 Entertainment has announced Kalki Krishnamurthy’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan as an original series, in association with MX Player.

News of Soundarya bringing characters like Vandhiyathevan, Kundhavai, Nandhini, Arunmozhi Varman, Poonguzhali to celluloid first broke about 3 years ago but for reasons unknown the attempt never materialized.

Now with this official announcement, it has been confirmed that Sooriya Prathap will be directing this Tamil web series and it will focus on Arulmozhivarman (Raja Raja Cholan), one of the kings of Chola dynasty during the 10th and 11th centuries.
