A day after the members of the Joint Action Committee of Tamil Nadu Teachers Organisation and Government Employees Organisation (JACTTO-GEO) went on an indefinite strike demanding the scrapping of the new pension scheme, fans of actor Vijay have come in for the rescue of students attending government schools.
The Vijay fan club has organised teachers for about 94 students from class 1 to 5 in Tiruppur so as to keep their education unaffected and are paying the teachers through their own pocket.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan has announced that absence of employees from government offices will result in pay-cuts and participating in strike is a violation of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants’ Conduct Rules.
