Actor director Mysskin has been accused of not returning an advance amount he took on the pretext of making a film by the accusation has been levelled by an ambitious actor named Maitreya, who is the son of a film financier and son-in-law of popular producer M.S. Guhan of AVM Studios. According to the statement of Maitreya to a popular news daily, Mysskin signed an agreement with him as the hero and Maireya's father as the producer and even took a huge advance for directing the film.
However post the test shoots, Mysskin seemed to have kept coming up with one reason or the other for about 3 years, focussing on other projects while breaking agreement clauses, before finally signing Udhayanidhi Stalin for the story originally promised for Maitreya (Psycho). Mysskin is also said to have not returned the amount he received as an advance and has apparently cited "personal commitments" to be the obstacle in returning it.
Maitreya has said in his statement that he has now moved on to other projects but he was also quoted to have said, "I will admit that he (Mysskin) never approached us for the project. I wanted to do a film only with him and reached out to him...We paid him a huge advance only out of the respect we had for him .. Mysskin sir’s conscience should answer if what he has done to me is fair .. People have been suggesting that we have a strong case as per our agreement if we approach the court or the producers’ council. But I will leave it to his conscience to answer this"
