Tamil Nadu Government will celebrate the birth anniversary of Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan which falls on October 1 as a government function. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has announced that the veteran actor’s birth anniversary on October 1 will be observed as a government function as a mark of honour to him. CM made the announcement in the State Assembly today. The announcement has brought much delight to not only the die hard fans of the thespian but to the people of TamilNadu as well.
A memorial in honour of legendary Tamil thespian Sivaji Ganesan, along with his statue, was unveiled by the TN Government on his 89th birth anniversary last year in Chennai.
Sivaji Ganesan who ruled the Tamil film world since 1950s has acted in over 300 films most of which were big hits. A winner of Padma Shri in 1966 and Padma Bhushan in 1984, Sivaji Ganesan, won several State, regional, national and international awards for his flawless performances in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films. The Dada Saheb Phalke award was given to him in 1997. Sivaji Ganesan passed away on July 21, 2001.
