An official notification from the Sikkim state government announced that composer A.R. Rahman has been appointed as the brand ambassador of the state, to represent Sikkim both nationally and globally. The notice was issued by Chief secretary of Sikkim, A.K. Srivastava. This is the second time Rahman has been chosen to represent Sikkim as earlier this year, he was appointed the ambassador of tourism and business ahead of The Red Panda Winter Carnival 2018, an annual festival thronged by tourists.
The latest official notice also read that Rahman will promote and project the state’s achievements, which has has over the last two decades emerged as a world famous eco-tourism destination, besides attaining a distinct identity as the first fully organic farming state of the country.
