Ashok Selvan's near-death accident & other details on Mersal producers' Oxygen
The shooting of Mersal producers' upcoming film Oxygen gave its lead actor Ashok Selvan a near-death experience during a helicam shot. Apparently, the actor was shooting in the middle of the sea when instead of reaching the rescue boat, he almost drowned due to high tides and exhaustion from swimming. However, Ashok who found himself under the boat at one point managed to somehow swim across, successfully battling his do-or-die situation.
Directed by Metro fame Ananda Krishnan, Oxygen has Ashok playing a customs officer and it derives its title from the real-life honest people, whom the director considers to be the "Oxygen of this world". Touted to be an out and out crime thriller, the movie will see Ashok in three different looks - a student, family man and a rugged look and has Johan for music, N.S. Uthayakumar for cinematography and Srikanth N.B. for the edits.
The film which is bankrolled under Thenandal Studios Limited and Shraddha Entertainment has completed 20 percent of shooting and plans to wrap in another 3 months.
