Simbu decides to clash against Thuppakki on Diwali

Simbu came out of left field and announced that he will release his long pending Poda Podi against Vijay's Thuppakki on Diwali. This move was unexpected as many were expecting Maattrraan or Vishwaroopam to clash against Thuppakki. Simbu also announced that he is pushing out Vaalu, as a result.

It is early to confirm whether distributors are willing to buy the rights and whether exhibitors are willing to agree sharing the screen counts with Vijay and AR Murugadoss' Thuppakki. This gives Poda Podi an opportunity to get more attention and hype than otherwise if it were a solo release.
