Interesting week ahead in Tamil Cinema

By Raven

Sundarapandian has managed to impress the masses and theatres are reporting houseful shows during the weekend with family audience embracing the movie. Clearly, Sundarapandian is here to stay for a few more weeks, thanks to the positive word-of-mouth. Commercially, Sasikumar seems to have struck the right chord with the audience as he did in Nadodigal. Sundarapandian looks like a clean hit across all centers and single screens that have bought the film might like to continue screening the film next week too.

In Hindi, Barfi is termed as "Must Watch" by public and media. To give some context, if Barfi had a been a Tamil movie, it would have received an +85% mc rating based on ratings gathered from audience and critic responses. Such is the overwhelming unanimous support Barfi has received so far.

In this scenario of two successful movies, three more movies are slated for release next week (21st September), namely, Charulatha, Saattai and Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom. All the three movies are of different genres and are carrying healthy pre-release hype for low/medium budget movies.  It would be interesting to see how all the three new films will manage to get good screens next week.

Looking ahead to week of Sept 28th, Thaandavam is expected to get censor certification and announce their release date. Thuppakki title case verdict is expected today - hope it wouldn't get adjourned again. Maattrraan is expected to make an important milestone update announcement later this week.

Look out for the preview write-ups for the upcoming three movies releasing this Friday.
