Ki & Ka Review - Great Concept, Average Execution

Time and again, we see brilliant filmmakers coming up with very different and relevant topics and present them in as very unusual concepts. One such filmmaker is R Balki who has proven his mettle with movies like Cheeni Kum and Paa. But when it comes to Ka & Ki, he fails to recreate the same magic.

Kia (Kareena Kapoor), a career-oriented corporate woman meets Kabir (Arjun Kapoor), a IIM pass-out man guy wants to follow his late mother's steps and wants to be a house-husband performing all the daily chores of the house. Both connect instantly and decide to marry each other but this role reversal is not so acceptable to their families. However, they marry anyways and then the problems start to bother them. Will they be able to tackle all the hurdles the face in their marriage is the rest of the story.

Although the topic chosen is important and the fresh concept to represent it is praise worthy, but its execution lacks the much needed storytelling. The writing is not at its best and the second half leaves the audience confused with its directionless story. But the songs and the music is peppy and quite enjoyable!

Talking about the performances, Kareena suits the role of an dominant corporate lady perfectly and gives a decent job. On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor is inconsistent and lacks the much needed intensity in serious scenes. Rajit Kapur and Swaroop Sampant deliver are a delight to watch.

In all, if you really want to watch this movie, you should be watch for it for its concept because the storyline will surely disappoint you.
