Top 5 Tamil Villains of 2015

In Thani Oruvan, Jayam Ravi says "Tell me who your enemy is, and I will tell you what you are capable of doing." This statement holds good for the protagonists of Tamil films. Usually, it is the villain who turns a good film into an excellent film. Let's check out who were the Top 5 villains of Tamil Cinema in 2015.

1. Arvind Swamy - Thani Oruvan

Arvind Swamy as Siddharth Abhimanyu was suave, charming and classy outside, but evil inside. This villain, who didn't shout at the top of his lungs, was extremely refreshing. He carried an immaculate level of authority when he delivered dialogues like "Love at first sight and kill at first betrayal". And, that middle finger swipe over his forehead in the climax was mighty impressive too.

2. Arun Vijay - Yennai Arindhaal

It isn't easy to match the charisma of Ajith and it is even more difficult to play his baddie. But, Arun Vijay as Victor just managed to do it with his formidable looks as well as body language. The phone conversation scenes with Ajith were noteworthy, and it was so refreshing to see Arun Vijay in such a role.

3. Parthiban - Naanum Rowdy Dhaan

Parthiban's role in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was so tricky that if it wasn't well enacted, the character would have made a mockery of himself. Parthiban stole the show by playing a light-hearted villain with his usual comic sense in place, and the scenes involving him and Vijay Sethupathi brought the roof down.

4. Sathyaraj - Isai

Sathyaraj was brilliant in the role of a senior music director, who couldn't see his assistant surpassing him. Although he was little over-dramatic at times, his presence definitely aided the movie. His scenes with Ganja Karuppu were a scream, while the climax sequences showed what a brilliant actor he is.

5. 'Pattiyal Sekar' - Rajathandhiram

In a film that majorly involved youngsters, 'Pattiyal' Sekar stood out with his stellar performance as a jewelry shop owner, Kanchi Azhagappan. He was a calm yet menacing villain, who played a huge role in making the whole cat and mouse game extremely interesting.

Notable Mentions

  • Veteran actor Karthik was at his best in Anegan, as he impressed the audience with his quirky dialogue delivery and uber-cool attitude. The pre-climax sequences with Dhanush received instant applause in the theatres.
  • Rana Daggubati made a huge impact as the villain in Baahubali, as he managed to match the stature of Prabhas. The fight sequences between Rana and Prabhas were grandeur as well as intense.
