MovieCrow Box Office Report - September 5 to 7

Last weekend was a very dull one for the Tamil box office, with none of the new releases managing to boost the trade. There were 3 releases last weekend, but all of them received mixed reviews and failed to attract the audience. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies during last weekend.

1. Amara Kaaviyam

Jeeva Shankar's Amara Kaaviyam has beautiful visuals and lovely music, but the screenplay has let down the movie. However, Mia George has been getting rave accolades for her act in the film. As the WOM is on the negative side, the movie might turn out to be a disappointment.

2. Salim

Salim has slid down one position from last weekend, but the movie got decent occupancy levels, thanks to Vijay Antony's subtle performance. The movie buffs are now looking forward to Vijay Antony's next film India Pakistan, which is due to hit the screens soon.

3. Poriyaalan

Although Poriyaalan received fair reviews, the movie went literally unnoticed, due to low key promotions. With too many films lined up for release next week too, Poriyaalan might not be able to hold on to the screens.

Other Movies

Viddharth's Pattaya Kelappanum Pandiya could not bring in the audience in spite of Soori's presence, while Irumbu Kuthirai lost majority of its screens after scathing reviews and low occupancy levels during the first weekend. Anjaan's screen count drastically reduced, due to thumbs down from the family audiences, who are reckoned as Suriya's biggest supporters.

Upcoming week's releases

Vikram Prabhu's Sigaram Thodu, Kreshna's Vaanavarayan Vallavarayan and Burma will be hitting the screens on September 12th. With so many films clashing at the box office, the movie which gets the strongest WOM will be retaining its screens into the next week, while the rest will fizzle out as usual.
