It has now been officially announced that Vijay's 2004 blockbuster Ghilli is gearing up for a re-release this month, and Ghilli's re-release date is April 20, 2024 [Saturday], confirmed Sakthi Film Factory. The banner has bagged the all-area Tamil Nadu distribution for Ghilli's re-release in theaters this year.

A remake of Mahesh Babu's 2003 Telugu blockbuster Okkadu, Ghilli is one of those rare case scenarios where a remake film stands neck and neck in terms of the original's popularity, and reception among cine audience.

Also starring Trisha and Prakash Raj in memorable roles, Ghilli is based on Okkadu director Gunashekar's story, and has screenplay, direction by Dharani, and dialogues by Bharathan. The film has Vidyasagar for music, and is a production venture of AM Rathnam's Sri Surya Movies.
