Contrary to popular understanding that Lyca Productions' upcoming venture Karu will be releasing instead of the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 on January 26, 2018, the production banner has confirmed that Karu will be releasing on February 9, 2018. The film which marks the Tamil debut of Premam star Sai Pallavi is directed by A.L. Vijay and is said to be a woman-centric film.

The movie which is expectant of a censor certification has Sam CS for music, Nirav Shah for cinematography and Antony for the edits.
