Remo gets tax exemption in spite of being an English title

Sivakarthikeyan's Remo, directed by newcomer Bakkiyaraj Kannan, is all set to take a blockbuster opening this Friday. The team is delighted since the movie has been granted tax exemption. However, this has raised quite a few eyebrows in the film industry since Remo is not a Tamil title, which is the pre-requisite for tax exemption. While few filmmakers have been denied tax exemption due to political reasons before, a non-Tamil title getting tax exemption has come as a huge surprise.  In the past, Udhay's "Manidhan" was denied tax exemption claiming the title is not a Tamil word.

However, it would be interesting to know if the tax exemption was given considering 'Remo' as a name instead of an English word.
