Kabali Opening Weekend Box Office Report: Grosses Rs 190 Crore

Superstar Rajinikanth has set a new benchmark with Kabali. The movie has raked in Rs 190 Crore worldwide just from the opening weekend, when it usually takes at least a week time for a Tamil film to enter 100 cr club. Let's quickly check out the breakup of collection by territories.

India:

Majority of the collection has come from Tamil Nadu - Rs 40 crore. The Telugu version of the film had collected Rs 25 crore from Andhra/Telangana regions. With steady collections flowing in, chances of break-even are high in Kerala and Karnataka. In Kerala, the movie had grossed around Rs 10.5 crore. From the Rest Of India, the movie had grossed Rs 25 crore including its Tamil, Hindi and Telugu versions.

USA & Canada region had already entered into profit zone, the movie which was sold for Rs 8.5 crore to CineGalaxy, minted Rs 26.3 crore from the opening weekend. UK & European nations registered a grand opening, but post Sunday there is a big drop in footfalls. Hence, breaking-even looks difficult now for these countries. The movie's gross split: UK - £292,295 (Rs 2.5 crore), France (Rs 1.2 crore), Norway (Rs 19 lakh), Germany (Rs 4 lakh). Gulf countries had contributed around Rs 25 crore, out of which UAE alone had contributed Rs 16+ crore. Malaysia and Singapore had contributed Rs 16 crore. According to Perth Movies, the Tamil movie distributor at Australia, Kabali is estimated to have grossed A$450k in the opening weekend.

Including satellite rights (Rs 30 crore) & audio rights (Rs 5 crore), Kabali has now entered the 200 crore club, a rare feat in Tamil Cinema.
