Slickly paced thriller
Aankhen is a welcome break from the kitsch-ridden Bollywood masala flicks. It is based on a novel and taut plot with commercial ingredients like songs and romantic-angles strewn in. In addition, Vipul Shah's imaginative and meticulous direction combined with Ashok Mehta's stylish cinematography lends it a Hollywood potboiler look. (more)

Could have been better
AANKHEN has a super cast, a novel theme, popular music and a grandiose look as its strong points, but the novel theme will not find many takers beyond metropolitan cities. Also, the business will taper with the onslaught of big releases in the coming weeks. However, the excellent opening will help. (more)
