Brave attempt

Mangal Pandey is a film of epic proportions. A genuine attempt at bringing alive a great hero on celluloid, the film will only bring pride and prestige in the domestic market as well as on the international platform. (more)

An unquestionable classic

The best part of the movie is that it never once sermonizes. Neither does it go overboard on the spirit of 'deshbhakti' or 'azaadi'. It talks to the point and raises one simple point about being united and to stop serving the oppressors. The script is fool proof for majority of the movie inspite of non-availability of a single source.(more)

A must watch

Mangal Pandey must be watched. Without prejudices, without a Lagaan hangover, without expectations. For expectations, sometimes, could be unfair. Its almost a classic, but not quite Braveheart. (more)

Worth a watch

Considering the high expectations that are being attached to the film, 'The Rising' turns out to be a finely made movie, but not exceptional. Director Ketan Mehta must be complimented for credibly recreating history and showing first sparks of the revolution that culminated into Indian freedom almost 90 years later. (more)
