Aamir isn't Dil Se enough
The actors do quite well, for the most part. Kajol isn't given too much to do, but she's the one who infuses a spirit into the film. Aamir performs manfully, but the script requires him to lay the histrionics on thick, and he obliges. The flaws lie in the words, and the man wielding the megaphone.(more)

Unfamiliar Turf
Kajol looks utterly ravishing and Aamir Khan as the shahzada-turned-shaitan is note perfect. The secondary characters, fine actors like Rishi Kapoor and Tabu, look like intruders. Bravo Bollywood. For so long denied the chance to exploit Kashmir's beauty, it has succeeded in exploiting its unending terror. (more)

Forget the controversies surrounding the film, go for it
The film may not be a chatpata entertainer but there is an elegant charm and a straight-from-the-heart feel which makes it worth a dekko. Just don't go looking for fun and faltu timepass. (more)
