A Solid Drama with Enough Thrilling Episodes!
No character exists without a purpose and there is a solid reasoning for every scene out there. Neat story presented with utmost conviction in screenwriting, topical execution too. Minor flaws with lengthy duration, thankfully they dont affect much.(more)

Mohanlal's crime drama is good mix of thrills and punches
Overall, this film strikes a good balance between a Mohanlal film and a Mohanlal starrer, catering to fans of both tastes. While the film does have a few drawbacks, the engaging experience it provides might just make up for any drawbacks that have been mentioned. Yet, given the uncertainty regarding the box-office performances of films like these in the Indian markets, it remains to be seen if enough audiences will pick up 'Thudarum', especially considering its lukewarm pre-release buzz.(more)

Mohanlal in top form in a fine film, with minor flaws
Thudarum, despite its flaws, is a finely-crafted film with the right emotional beats. The open-ended title, which appears after the actors name in the closing credits, in a way hints there is much more left for the actor to do.(more)

Thudaram lacks nuance in script and acting
Jakes Bejoy's music elevates the scenes, making a real impact in the storytelling. Shaji Kumar's cinematography is excellent and it is perfectly coordinated with the edits by Shafeeque VB and Nishadh Yusuf. Their collective work lay the ground for the mood of the film. Tharun, whose last film Saudi Vellakka won a National Awards, could have done better to have created a more subtle story; this very much has an '80s-'90s feel. For Mohanlal fans, his raw magnetism might be exciting, but with its loud and overwritten scenes, the acting lacks nuance all around.(more)

Mohanlal Scores Big Time
The film is a refreshing change of pace for Mohanlal, and we get to see him ease into the part of a layman with the necessary emotional consistency after a long time. The film packs a lot of drama and engagement into a routine setting with clever writing. Thudarum is a masterpiece for adults, a serious yet self-aware piece of cinema that has something for everybody.(more)

Mohanlal, Tharun Moorthy deliver a nearly flawless revenge thriller
the film has faltered at times due to poor dialogues, with some coming across as half-baked and rushed. At the same time, Thudarum could have also benefited from a final round of trimming, sealing the apertures and cracks here and there. The unnecessary slow motion in some moments, particularly during fights, has also detracted from the overall experience. While the visual metaphors have landed mostly, particularly the effective use of rain and elephants, they come across as contrived at certain junctures.(more)
