Mammootty shines in this stylish mystery investigation drama
The film is layered and so are the characters. Gokul Suresh matches Dominic's vibe and so does Viji Venkatesh. They are like two satellites around the star. Of course, the star performer after Mammootty is Sushmitha Bhatt. She is spectacular. There are so many characters going in and out but the story warrants it.(more)

Mammootty, Gautham Menon film is engaging in parts
Gokul Suresh and his support to Mammoottys Dominic is adequate for the film. Viji Venkatesh and Shushmitha Bhatts Malayalam slang is not on point. That said, Veena Nair delivers a standout performance. An investigative thriller relies heavily on its surprises and music as well. Here, Darbuka Siva delivered an Indianised version of Sherlock Holmes music, which was a nice addition to the film, which is a thriller. That said, Dominic and The Ladies Purse is a neat attempt that could have sprung more surprises to make the proceedings interesting(more)

Needless flab turns Gautham Menon-Mammootty film into average fare
Dominic And The Ladies Purse ends with the prospect of the detective taking up more such cases. Dominic is a character which holds immense possibilities, but he deserves a better-made film with less frills.(more)

Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mammootty deliver an amateurish mystery comedy
Despite appearing frequently in the film, Gokul Sureshs character is entirely squandered as a mere spectral presence, contributing nothing beyond the superficial. In the end, even his performance ends up being mediocre. Although actors such as Vineeth, Lena, Siddique, Vijay Babu and Viji Venkatesh make appearances, none of their characters are well stretched out and their performances do nothing to improve the situation.(more)
