A wildly entertaining comedy

Khel Khel Mein has minor flaws, but its smart writing, tight direction, and performances make it worth a watch, especially with a bunch of friends. However, if you get too inspired by this game, do it at your own risk!(more)

Akshay Kumar returns to solid form in a remake that needed little more consistency

Akshay Kumar is able to swing between the contrasting flavours the way only he can. Just like Garam Masala, hes stuck with some fine people in one room and struggling to get hold of each of them and get rid of them too. He enjoys seeing people being stripped naked of their truths but also tries to hide his own dirty linens. And theres no other actor who can pull this farce off and make it look convincing. Comedy is truly serious business, its no Khel.(more)

Game Of Phones

Khel Khel Mein's appeal lies in its frivolous worldview. It's only when the movie overexplains its actions and its 'parda mein rehne do' maxim, it's not fun and games anymore.(more)

Akshay Kumar is in terrific form in a smart laugh riot

Performances apart from Akshay too are top notch. Taapsee Pannu finally gets to break out of the serious actor image and shines as the social media addict dealing with issues in her marriage due to no children. Ammy Virk, as her husband, gets a lot to do and he manages to deliver. Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal (who is being introduced with this film) are easy on the eyes, and convincing as the couple dealing with a tragedy. And if it were up to me. I would count this film as Fardeens actual comeback, not the forgettable role in Sanjay Leela Bhansalis Heeramandi. Its something you havent seen him do before on screen.(more)

Akshay Kumar finds his groove with this nuptial nonsense

When seven friends, three couples and an aging bachelor, get together for a wedding, they decide to play a game where they surrender the privacy of their phones. During the course of the night, as their secret sauce gets splashed on the table, their bonds get tested and twisted. The jokes land consistently and even when one knows where it is headed, there is an inherent honest vibe in the storytelling that keeps one interested. The girls look ravishing in designer outfits and the boys bring the bling, but the emotional core of the subject doesnt get buried under blah. Starting with a cameo by the charming Chitrangada Singh, the conversations and contradictions dont feel made up.(more)

Akshay Kumar exhibits flair in no-holds-barred comedy

he length of the movie makes things sag in bits, especially in the second half. Plus, some of the reveals arent that madly interesting either. In the interests of keeping things light and frothy, some characters are given arcs which threaten to redeem them. Which does this kind of film no good: a little more of the some-men-will never-change just like leopards and their spots, would have made it a no-holds-barred banger. Erm.(more)

KHEL KHEL MEIN rests on a novel plot with excellent performances.

The director should have spent some time explaining these aspects. In fact, except for the seven main characters, the rest of the characters suffer a raw deal. Maybe, the intention was to keep the focus on the protagonists. But a few minutes of giving importance to the rest of the characters would have added to the impact. Lastly, this is an urban film and has certain themes and tracks that won't be appealing to the mass audience. The fact that its set in one hotel suite also restricts its cinematic appeal.(more)
