Fairly Engaging with the Pleasing Romantic Aspect!

Lands well when it flows with the core plot in which Sai Pallavi does wonders, powered with soulful music and breezy visuals. Tough time when the treatment goes overboard with the rough start and painful-to-sit-through prison portions.(more)

Naga Chaitanya & Sai Pallavi power this emotional action drama

Thandel is an engaging romantic action drama that delivers on its promise. While there are moments where the narrative could have been tighter, the films decent storytelling, moving music, stunning visuals and brilliant lead performances ensure it leaves an impact. If youre looking for an intense love story with drama, action, and a touch of patriotism, Thandel is worth a watch.(more)

Patriotic Love Story

The film never stays on the quieter, romantic encounters between the couple and is too busy to move on to the high octane, market-friendly, jingoistic action. The image of the hero fighting while holding an Indian national flag signifies the overtly corny patriotic swings the film is going for.(more)

Naga Chaitanya commandeers film that works best as a love story; falters otherwise

Thandel is based on a real-life incident when 22 fishermen from Srikakulam and Vizianagaram were detained in Pakistan for 13 months after accidentally venturing into their waters. Chandoo takes the incident and adds a pinch of nationalism and a tablespoon of romance to it to make the film work. Thandel works as long as it focuses on the love between the lead couple; it falters when it focuses on the fishermens time in Karachi Central Jail. At the film's beginning, a title card reads - where drama begins, logic ends. And the director makes good on it.(more)

Sai Pallavi, Naga Chaitanya elevate a partly choppy romance saga

Thandel could have lived up to its ambition of being an epic romance saga. Yet, despite its flaws, it remains an engaging watch, carried by its deeply empathetic love story.(more)
