Just A Mid Masala Flick!

An interesting crime topic is taken with utmost research, but the film misses out to engage enough except for the last hour. Had the potential but it is mostly flat due to weak staging and a blunt villain(more)

A double-engine Mammootty and nefarious Raj B Shetty shoulder wafer-thin actioner

The manner in which director Vysakh has conceived the world and ensured technical brilliance has significantly saved the film. Thanks to his expertise in crafting mass actioners, Turbo adds another feather to his cap, highlighting that he doesnt need a strong script to create an engaging entertainer. Without relying on the wafer-thin narrative, Vysakh proceeds in his own style and pace, ensuring with its visuals that the movie doesnt fail to impress. At the same time, Phoenix Prabhus action choreography keeps the movie elevated, with each stunt sequence surpassing the previous one. While Vishnu Sarmas cinematography is generally impressive, some of the micro shots seemed unnecessary and amateurishly handled. Shameer Muhammeds exceptional editing stands out, particularly in the action sequences, where Christo Xaviers high-octane background score also plays a crucial role.(more)

A turbo charged entertainer with all elements in place

The film also has all the elements of a mass entertainer in place with amazingly choreographed fights, backed by perfect cinematography and edits. Phoenix Prabu, Vishnu Sharma and Shameer Muhammed can take a bow. Christo Xaviers music keeps the tempo of the action high. The acting is all-round excellent. Raj B Shetty underplays his villainy, but still conveys that there is nothing redeeming about him. Anjana has done a superb job. Auto Billa (Telugu comedian Sunil), Dileesh Pothens Andrew, Kabir Duhan Singhs Vincent are all smaller, but well-played memorable characters. Mammootty, like Malayalam cinema, is at an energetic high. There is a clue about a part two and this is a sequel that audiences will be waiting for.(more)

Mammootty's charm saves this predictable mass masala entertainer

The high-octane fights in 'Turbo' are performed and filmed well. It is Mammootty's charm and such quirks that made 'Turbo' work to an extent. It is fun to see Mammootty get back to commercial entertainer after a long time and he has lived the role with perfection. Anjana Jayaprakash has a solid role, which she has portrayed with ease. Raj B Shetty plays a cliched villain. But, his performance made him a perfect adversary for Mammootty. The actor who played Mammootty's mother in the film gives much-needed comedy relief to the story. PS: Watch out for the scene where she is watching 'Avengers' at a crucial time. 'Turbo' is a predictable action drama with a few quirks in the bag that make it a watchable affair(more)
