Venky Atluri, Dulquer Salmaan deliver an entertaining drama

GV Prakash Kumars score is never subtle. While it considerably infuses life into the proceedings, in a few portions it makes it easy to gauge what is in store. A turning point towards the final portions is an example. Perhaps some ambiguity would have helped maintain the suspense. The film discusses Baskhars moral compass without getting preachy and scores when it talks about knowing when and how to stop. In Baskhars words, well played, indeed!(more)

A terrific Dulquer Salmaan powers this brilliant Venky Atluri film

Lucky Baskhar reminded me of Special 26 -- where the scam was all about the right timing coupled with a bit of intelligence and a lot of courage. Lucky Baskhar sparingly references the stock market scam of the '90s but explains it beautifully with everyday examples without boring you with jargon. Dulquer is refreshing to watch as the storyteller with a mischievous grin. Meenakshi is delightful to watch as Sumathi, Bhasker's wife. P Sai Kumar, Sachin Khedekar, and Tinnu Anand are entertaining in their supporting roles.(more)

"Lucky Bhaskar" is a well-rounded family entertainer perfect for Diwali, delivering a mix of relatable drama and suspenseful storytelling.

, the director has done a remarkable job portraying family emotions, which adds depth to the story. Dulquer Salmaan's performance is particularly noteworthy, capturing the essence of a simple, determined young man who, driven by his family's needs, goes to great lengthsnot through brute strength, but with sharp intellect. The absence of big twists doesn't detract from the film; instead, it remains engaging because it feels like a story that could unfold in our own neighborhoods.(more)

An enthralling middle-class revenge fable

Lucky Baskhar is the ultimate middle-class revenge story in that sense. You can be ambivalent about his heroism, but you cannot deny he knows how to stay a step ahead of the exploitative upper-class. Thats where the ticket-buying audience finds itself too, and there couldnt be a bigger victory for any film or protagonist than to speak so directly to that part of us.(more)
