Mahesh Babu captivates in this mixed-bag action-drama
Guntur Kaaram is a film of contrasting qualities. While Mahesh Babu's vibrant performance stands as a highlight, the film struggles to weave these into a cohesive and emotionally impactful narrative. Despite its striking cinematography and moments of engaging humour, the lack of depth in the story leaves the audience wanting more.(more)

Medium spicy
Guntur Kaaram manages to entertain in parts, relying heavily on Mahesh Babus screen presence, accent, and one-liners. However, its drawbacks, including a thin storyline, sluggish screenplay, and superfluous scenes, may limit its broader appeal. While Guntur Kaaram may not impress all sections of the audience this Sankranthi season, Mahesh Babu fans may find it watchable thanks to the actors one-man show in an energetic and charismatic avatar.(more)

Mahesh Babu does the heavy lifting in this formulaic film
'Guntur Kaaram,' directed by Trivikram Srinivas, follows a formulaic route. It's a typical family entertainer where conflicts are easily resolved. The build-ups are predictable, and even the filmmaker goes for low-hanging fruits in terms of the story setups. One of the assets in Guntur Kaaram' is the characterisation of Mahesh Babu, which he has breathed life into. The film becomes tedious to sit through in the first half as the story remains stagnant and paper-thin. Adding to this, Sreeleela's so-called cute antics stick out like a sore thumb. Her portrayal could have been much more dignified, as the camera lingers around her waist. Even Mahesh Babus Ramana gives awkward glances.(more)

Mahesh Babu tries hard, but Trivikram prevents us from screaming 'Jai Babu
A notable instance occurs towards the interval, where an emotionally charged scene is marred by a completely mismatched BGM, undermining the films attempt at a compelling interval punch. VJ Sekhars choreography is also disappointing, though not as much as Ram-Lakshman and Vijays stunt choreography as almost all action sequences appear half-cooked, failing to resonate with the audiences.(more)

Mahesh Babu is the saving grace of this bland film with nothing new to offer
A new era has dawned over Indian cinema. Filmmakers seem to have a newfound fascination for dwelling on love stories between friends (RRR, Salaar) and now parents (Animal, Hi Nanna, Guntur Kaaram). Sure, all these films differ in treatment and how the stories play out, but its starting to feel like an overdose of mommy-daddy-friend issues. Surely our male leads can have other ways to express their angst? The makers of Guntur Kaaram held the cards close to their chests, and no one knew what the film was about until they walked into the theatre. But this film is anything but what youd expect it to be - a mindless commercial potboiler. Thats not to say Trivikram puts in enough effort to make this a tear-jerker.(more)
