A thriller that needed toning down

Kunchacko Boban brings the star presence to the movie and gives a good 'man of mystery' feel. Rajisha aces her role as the mercurial Mercy; she is never OTT, and despite her sharp words against her mother and father, she evokes sympathy, as an unmarried young woman of poor means. The songs by Stephen Devassy are good, though the BGM by Kedar is a bit predictable and loud. In these times, when we hear and read news reports that sound astounding, Pakalum Paathiravum would have benefitted greatly from being treated with a bit more realism and it might have been quite a memorable movie.(more)
