Luv Ranjan's Multiverse Welcomes Ranbir Kapoor & Shraddha Kapoor In Style But With Montages Of Never-Ending Monologues
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is Luv Ranjan trying to make a perfect movie for his audience but adds too much of everything. It could be appropriate for many and even problematic for some and neither are wrong. Choose your poison wisely.(more)

Ranbir Kapoor Is The Sole Saving Grace Of Film That's More Vacuous Chatter Than Genuine Matter
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar alternates between outright baloney and billowy bluster as a 30-year-old man and a 27-year-old girl make heavy weather of a relationship that begins on a torrid note and ends in unbridled puerility. It isn't just that the actors talk nineteen to the dozen. They holler and hector without let. Even Dimple Kapadia as a meddlesome matron is compelled to demonstrate her lung power to the fullest. Ranbir Kapoor, when can shake off the all-pervasive frivolity, is the sole saving grace of a movie that is more vacuous chatter than genuine matter.(more)

A modern love story with familial twist
Ranbir Kapoor is most beautiful when he essays broken characters. His silence speaks volumes. He enters a new territory here, the one Kartik Aaryan has mastered over the years. He adapts well to frothy romance, excessive talking and constant monologues. This is perhaps the most he has spoken in a film till date and the way it alters his personality is interesting to watch. He looks great with Shraddha, but the chemistry needs work. Shraddha seems uninhibited and spirited on screen this time around. Dimple Kapadia and Hasleen Kaur stand out in the crowd. Boney Kapoor gets very little to do. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has its humour and heart in place. Character building misses the mark, given the duration.(more)

Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor's problematic romcom is a montage of monologues
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is your age-old love story packaged in a modern day setup. It's weird and problematic but rendered in a funny manner, which might hook you in. You may struggle to sit through the pre-interval but things settle a bit after that. Definitely a one-time watch for some entertaining performances and monologues, if you love them as much as Kartik Aaryan does because it definitely helped him click with the masses.(more)
