Ayushmann Khurrana-Jaideep Ahlawat deliver a caper which is mostly fun
Till the time the film is scooting about in the English countryside, and in London town, with Manav and Bhoora playing cat and mouse, it stays fun. A segment featuring a dreaded don called Masood Abraham Katkar threatens to stretch things a bit, but is mercifully cut short. It�s when the film begins to take itself seriously that it halts the proceedings: take, for example, a lecture that Bhoora delivers, in the middle of a hand-to-hand fight, about heroes, and how they are nothing without the paying public. All well and good, but scat, we want the action heroes to only do what they do best: kick and chop their way through a throng of baddies. Those little moments when nothing much is going on slows down the proceedings, and prevents this one from being a total humdinger. That also goes for a song-and-dance sequence featuring the very svelte Malaika, who shares a terrific raised brow moment with our hero.(more)

Ayushmann Khurrana packs a punch in this average action thriller
Not everything in the plot adds up and you wish the film was tighter, but it does have a fair dose of action and comedy backed with good performances. The interesting thing about �An Action Hero� is not so much the story itself, but seeing Ayushmann Khurrana get into the skin of an action hero and flex his muscles (literally) on screen. For that, maybe, you can make a trip to the theatres.(more)

Running in a slightly different terrain, Ayushmann not only charms as the narcissistic Manav but also brings out the vulnerability of a star who suddenly finds himself alone despite all the money and fan following at his disposal. The actor captures the transition of Manav from a cornered larger-than-life figure to a shrewd cookie, without letting go of the sense of compassion that an artist exudes.(more)
