A Poorly Executed Period Actioner

An one-liner which is apt to make a convincing commercial outing is brought down to the ground level with weak screenwriting and cheap looking visuals. The idea to prolong the conclusion further to a separate movie is shocking us on a bad note.(more)

Pawan Kalyan's epic is a long, loud misfire

Instead, the film busies itself as an agenda vehicle that doesnt value ones time, effort or money. Although it positions itself as a seeker of uncomfortable truths, it doesnt equip itself with the right kind of intent or artistry to deliver the experience that many sought from it. For the fans of Pawan Kalyan, his return to the fore will feel more obligatory than whole-hearted, and the actor himself would ideally wish to correct the wrong and see himself back in his old glory. For now, all one could do is let out a long, weary sigh and move on.(more)

A passable period drama with mass appeal

Hari Hara Veera Mallu is a decent cinematic experience. Pawan Kalyan anchors this period film with a performance that balances strength and restraint, while Keeravaanis music amplifies its emotional and dramatic highs. The action sequences are a major highlight and bring energy to the narrative. On the downside, underdeveloped characters, underutilisation of Bobby Deol, the absence of a central hero-villain showdown, poor CG work, and a sluggish second half hold it back. That said, the movie still packs enough power to entertain. It lays the groundwork for an even bigger sequel. Watch it on the big screen this weekend.(more)

This ambitious misfire relies heavily on Pawan Kalyan's star power

The final hour is centred on the battle for dharma. This portion leans heavily on religious sentiment, in an attempt to offset the wavering narrative. The closing moments are reminiscent of SS Rajamouli's RRR. It is hard to elaborate without giving too much away, but the intended high point lacks both conviction and emotional weight.(more)

Pawan Kalyan's film is no Chhaava, just one elevation scene after another

All this would be buyable, especially because we all know commercial cinema heroes can do it all, if the film's writing and VFX werent a massive letdown. I want to believe Veera is safeguarding his odd little motley crew from danger as they travel from Golconda to Delhi, but the execution doesn't stop my mind from giving in to the fact that its all taking place in front of a green screen in Pithapuram.(more)
