A Chillingly Real Survival Drama

Anna Ben, plays the titular role, Helen. She is vibrant and full of life that she adds a sense of connect to the character much before the trapped episode starts. Her portrayal of the relationship Helen shares with her father is beautifully put across. Lal is brilliant as always. His love for cigars and his daughter comes hand in hand with each other.(more)

n Excellent Survival Drama That Features A Top-Notch Performance From Anna Ben

Helen is an interesting, albeit patchy, critique of capitalism and the fast-food industry where human beings are treated like machines. The KFC-like eatery here, takes the shape of a dystopian space that could trap Helen forever. The film ends on a note that places humanity over everything else. When she finds a lighter in her bag, one of the first things that she burns for some heat is her Canadian visa application document. What gets her out of the room is an unassuming act of kindness she used to do everyday. Helen concludes rather beautifully that paying attention to people is all that the world needs to do at the moment, and maybe it's okay to choose home over ambitions.(more)

A heart rending survival drama

Helen is a typical family film from the Vineeth Sreenivasan school of filmmaking which is enjoyable and empathetic. The feel-good movie, though a survival drama, would definitely bring a smile to the faces as the curtains come down.(more)
