BLACKMAIL is quite an unconventional entertainer and a good black comedy.

BLACKMAIL may not have a pan India appeal but the target multiplex audience are sure to enjoy this flick. The costs of this film are reasonable and as a result, it'll turn out to be a profitable venture for its producers.(more)

WICKED AND DELIGHTFUL BLACK COMEDY

The plot of Blackmail is its hero and it manages to strike a good balance between dark and funny. Characters are bumped off, sometimes in most gory detail and strange events unfold, but the film never loses its vein of easy, black humour. This is one of the most wickedly funny films that we've seen in a long time.(more)

Irrfan Khan is terrific in the Abhinay Deo film

The one man who keeps us watching, regardless, is Irrfan, who plays a jerk-off artist and blackmailer as essentially a decent guy making the best of a bad job. He is one actor who can, with subtle shifts, reveal an interior life; he can show without telling. He is terrific. The film doesn't match up.(more)

Irrfan Khan film is all our lives, with jokes

If there is one thing that offers roadblocks in this otherwise fun ride, it is the slow pace with which Abhinav establishes his plot and characters. The initial one hour seems stretched as the story hardly moves in this period. It is only towards the second half that Blackmail picks up pace. However, the performances, fun filled and realistic story-telling keep you engaged and entertained.(more)

Irrfan Khan Suffers Through A Messy And Mediocre Film

Blackmail is a good crime for comedy. There is a victimless feel to it, because the crime has a sense of righteous comeuppance, since the person being blackmailed does, on some level, have it coming. That doesn't mean it's harmless, though. In bad movies about victimless crimes, the victims are the ones watching.(more)

Irrfan and Co drive this engaging but flawed tragi-comedy of errors

Despite its imperfections, what sustains Blackmail is its irreverence towards the issue of marital infidelity. In an earlier era, such a theme is likely to have been explored only in a grave, weepie feature.(more)

A Must Watch

Blackmail's settings are grim, dark, comic and capricious, but one misses the directorial chutzpah that Deo showcased in his 2011 film Delhi Belly. But these are just silly pinpricks one must find out in a film that never runs short of bite and sting(more)

A chaotic yawn fest

Blackmail is an epic fail and a complete mismatch of what served in the trailer. 'Trailer ne blackmail kar diya'!(more)
