Amidst all this, the film delivers what it sets out to do - give us full on masala entertainment along with seeti-inducing scenes.

Simmba is a potboiler that you expect it to be, where the good surely outweighs the bad. There are enough paisa vasool moments including the cameo by the original Singham, Ajay Devgn. And it doesnt end there. Shetty leaves you with a parting shot of another superstar already revealing the first look of his offering in 2019.(more)

Ranveer Singh lifts this Rohit Shetty blockbuster

hetty plays at balance, giving decisive roles to female characters judge, mother, policewomen in a film that claims to be about rape, but this film is still all musk. Sonu Sood makes for an effective towering villain, while Singh pats his gun so long and hard that the film briefly turns into a Western. By the time Simmba meets his idol, the homoerotic energy is off the charts: two grunting men who look ready to tear each other's uniforms off and throw down right there, drunk on their own testosterone.(more)

Ranveer Singh takes the cop drama up a notch with his infectious enthusiasm

Throughout Simmba, there are constant references to Singham. In fact, when Ranveer dons the khaki for the very first time, the Singham title track plays in the background. In Simmba, Ranveer has successfully taken on the mantle from Ajay. Simmba starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles and directed by Rohit Shetty, is a fun entertainer until it becomes a moral commentary on rape.(more)

Ranveer Singh And Sara Ali Khan Star In Another Exaggerated Cop Drama

Simmba is the kind of film that derides toxic masculinity while ill-advisedly celebrating unbridled virility as a necessary component of law enforcement. Instill fear in the hearts of the wrongdoers, Singham advises Simmba. And how, pray, do you do that? Simmba advocates throwing due process out the window and embracing another flagrant form of lawlessness. And that can only be dangerous.(more)

Ranveer Singh makes this jaded thing sing

The only reason to watch Simmba is Ranveer Singh. The actor is fully alive to the moment, knowing that he is working in a template, aware that he has to keep breaking out.(more)
