Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana Review
The film could have been much better than it eventually turns out to be. But if you don't mind watching a modest family drama, reminiscent of the 90s, you won't mind being privy to this emotional alliance.(more)

An entertainer that takes on sexism, dowry and corruption
The film, however, leans too much on clichs. Songs are abrupt and obstruct the narrative. The filmmakers have also relied heavily on melodrama but despite these minor hiccups, this is an invitation you must not miss.(more)

The Rajkummar Rao starrer will leave you confused
What also keeps us watching is, of course, Rao. He's had a super year, and this time around too, he makes his Sattu a real, vulnerable guy. But maybe he needs to take a break from being a small-town lover boy. It's all becoming too much of a muchness, as are movies set in these small towns, and their quirky, colourful characters. What about a film with a convincing, loud shout out against 'dahej'? Now that's one invite I wouldn't miss.(more)

Despite Rajkummar Rao, Ignore This Invite
Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana? Ignore the invite. But if you still want to give it a shot simply because of Rajkummar Rao, heed this advice: he has done, and will do, infinitely better films? Wait for the next one.(more)

No sense of direction
The film has a solid ensemble cast Alka Amin, Manoj Pahwa, Vipin Sharma, K.K. Raina, Govind Namdeo there is also a cigarette- smoking-sex-talking elder sister to give us a token glimpse of the progressive side of the conservative world. Together they can't rescue the film. Kriti Kharbanda could be Kriti Sanon, they all look so similar and replaceable these days. Rajkummar Rao is earnest and tries to give his best to a film that doesnt deserve it.(more)

Even Rajkummar Rao cannot rescue this romantic drama
Rao's Satyendra shows two shades. He starts off as the youthful, warm-hearted young man unaware of the biases towards him as a boy child waiting to come of age. In the latter half he's the cold-hearted and bitter officer determined to bring down the Mishras who so badly humiliated his family. Rao interprets both with expected nuance and control.(more)

Derails, after initial promise!
Many in the audience could also get the impression that administrative jobs are all about exercising power rampantly; or that its not so much of a task to appear for the civil services exam and look authoritative supremacy and muscle power almost promptly. Kharbanda looks pretty but the latter half has her faltering under the complexities of such a demanding role she plays. Had it not been for the good supporting cast comprising sister Nayani Dixit, Namdeo, Alka Amin, or Vipin Sharma, the narrow territorial mindset of Kanpur would have looked forced unspontaneous. Particularly Dixit steals some of the scenes with her natural flair for comedy and perfect ease before the camera in mouthing some funnily saucy and flippant lines.(more)
