Sai Dharam Tej's show

Ravi starts off well but soon meanders into songs and romance and similar fluff. That kind of leaves him little time for the climax which seems a little rushed. The second half definitely needed more attention. Sai Dharam Tej changes his style and looks authentic, a good change for him from the usual. Prasanna Kumar, known to Tamil audiences, starts an impressive journey in Telugu too as a handsome villain. Mehreen filles in for the songs and romantic scenes. Subba Raju and Kota Srinivasa Rao make their presence felt. In a film of this type, there are the mandatory patriotic dialogues and emotional scenes. Lost under the masala elements is a thriller.(more)

Sai Dharam Tej and Prasanna's film begins well but fizzles out soon

The film has many such loose ends and inconsistencies. It gets dull and monotonous with Jai's frequent duets with Mehreen Pirzada. Despite Tej's best efforts, the film fizzles out. A scene where Jai explains why he would choose his country over his family any given day is one of the few highlights of the film.(more)

Fight for the nation

Jawaan is the story of a man who fights for his nation. Though the storyline of the film is good, it is the half-baked execution which leaves a lot to be desired. Things are left to Sai Dharam Tej's brilliant performance and he single-handedly rallies the film till the end. There are no entertaining elements which will get you kicked but at the same time, the film offers some decent thrills here and ends up as a passable watch this weekend.(more)

Dull Face Off

"Jawaan" mostly treads "Dhruva's" path but it is not that riveting. Nevertheless it has some interesting episodes in the second half. Overall, it is a fairly better movie for Sai Dharam Tej but not for audiences.(more)

JAWAAN MOVIE REVIEW

Sai Dharam Tej is good in his role as Jai, despite the sketchy character development. Mehreen Pirzada is beautiful in her role as Bhargavi, unapologetic and strong. While Keshava's character seems to be written to ooze menace, what with him being 'evil for the sake of evil', Prasanna somehow fails to bring in the aggression the character demands. (more)
