VIMAANAM MOVIE REVIEW
However, towards the second half, the film becomes less about flying and more about romance, which offers nothing new. With a stereotypical father bent on getting his daughter married to his rich NRI nephew and the mandatory slap, the romance looks straight out of the 90s. At times, the dialogues and responses seem a bit theatrical. Perhaps, if the inspiring career of the protagonist had been explored further, the film could have been an even more successful experiment from a debutant director with great promise.(more)

Vimaanam fueled by passion and love is bound to fly high
The debutante writer-director succeeds to weave the plot of the story engagingly despite having many cliched characters and storylines in it. To be frank, the movie is actually the love story of Venkidi and Janaki. The technical aspect of building an airplane has been convincingly portrayed on screen, and this combined with a topnotch direction, and effortless performances make Vimaanam a worthwhile entertainer.(more)

This Prithviraj movie has no trouble taking off!
The simplicity is kept intact through the film. There are no extra flourishes to make it dramatic, and that only leaves more of an impression on your mind. The music goes hand in hand with what the film wants to say.(more)

Prithviraj Sukumaran, Durga Krishna embody heartache and yearning
What it is is a brooding depiction of great achievements overshadowed by great sadness and a sense of emptiness, when your being remains forever chained to a past not of your making. Prithviraj as Venkati and Durga Krishna as Janaki embody yearning and heartache. Whatever the film�s missteps may be, I found myself cheering as Venkati's first plane took off, but most of all, I really really wanted to see Janaki with him. Sweet simplicity is not easy to achieve on screen. That�s what Pradeep M Nair delivers with Vimaanam.(more)

A watchable film made with noble intentions
'Vimaanam' has been made with noble intentions but the balancing of the aviation angle and the love story, makes the going a bit bumpy. Even then, this one is fine as an honest love story.(more)
