Mammootty shines in this comedy film
The filmmakers should be appreciated for not hindering the flow of the story by forcefully injecting songs. The music is used as a tool to progress the film and the characters. Vidyasagar�s music is a plus, especially the title track. Mammootty�s Thoppil Joppan is a good time pass movie with a strong social message.(more)

Predictably, Joppan can be easily endearing for the numerous all-embracing Mammootty fans and for the rest, it can be one of those boilerplate films with glimpses that remind you of films like 'Kottayam Kunjachan'.(more)

A onetime watchable Mammootty comedy film
Mammootty's elegant look is the highlight of the film and it proclaims that no one can pull off an achayan better than him. The major screen space is shared between Mammootty and his gang which includes Alancier, Sreejith Ravi and Saju Navodaya, and their chemistry is enjoyable. Mamta Mohandas delivers a good performance, but Andrea Jeremiah's acting potentials were not at all utilized in her limited screen time. Salim Kumar and Harisree Asokan perform neatly and help in carrying the movie forward.(more)

Simple, Neat And Clean!
As mentioned, Thoppil Joppan doesn't have a strong story to narrate. But, the writer and the director have tried their best to make a neat entertainer from the available prospects. The love track in the film works pretty well and you won't get bored at any point of time. Fans of Mammootty would be expecting some mass scenes and there are two or three sequences, which has a mass background. Apart from that, the film is an entertainer with a realistic touch and won't question the logic of the viewers.(more)
