Bloated And Tacky Despite Amitabh Bachchan Plus Aamir Khan
There can be no denying that the film has been well shot. But the rather garish backdrops and the frequently shoddy, unnecessarily flighty VFX undermines the work of cinematographer Manush Nandan. Although the makers of this film have chosen to set the action two centuries ago, both the musical score (Atul-Ajay) and the dance moves smack more of kitschy Bollywood rather than evoking any sense of genuine time and place.(more)

I may be old school, but I believe pirate movies need to have eye-patches. This one doesn't, and that's a shame. The viewing experience would have been hugely improved. I should have gone in wearing two.(more)

Thugs Of Hindostan is a King-Sized disappointment!
THUGS OF HINDOSTAN has some engrossing moments in the first half, that's about it. The post-interval portions are an absolute downer. The plot is formulaic, while the screenplay is riddled with cinematic liberties. At the box-office, TOH is bound to have a huge weekend thanks to the festive period coupled with tremendous hype and the impressive names involved. But once the initial euphoria settles down, it'll be difficult for the film to sustain.(more)

At this stage of his career, Aamir Khan should be extra cautious of not slipping towards the projects and act in the movies he�s known for. Thuggery on a large scale, with viewers at the receiving end
The only one having a blast is Aamir Khan's Awadhi thug in his carroty curls and soorma-ringed eyes. He vamps it up madly, grinning widely: the act's not new but some of it is infectious, and bearable. Just about. The rest of it is a non-stop combo of eye-roll-and-eye-glaze.(more)

Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan film is an epic bore
Thugs of Hindostan finally arrives at its intended destination. Only it's a scenario straight out of Ramesh Sippy's Sholay albeit with Mr Bachchan chained like Dharmendra's Veeru and watching an army of people dance for him including a heavily bronzed Kaif doing a vigorous Hema Malini act dressed like Sridevi. By the end of Thugs of Hindostan audiences will feel they have been looted of their time and denied the joy of watching two talented stars, Bachchan and Khan, come together for the first time.(more)
