If you are familiar with Mumbai's working-class neighbourhoods, where the hearts of the poor are bigger than the pay packages of those residing in the mushrooming high-rises, you'll be able to notice the beauty of Banjo. It also makes you respect the street musicians a little more.(more)

BANJO's promos beautifully mirrored the lives of street musicians, the film elaborates the same in totality.
The film successfully manages to establish the quirky characters of Taraat and his band members. The life and lifestyle of the slum dwellers have been convincingly portrayed in the film. The film's dialogues (Kapil Sawant, Nikhil Mehrotra and Ravi Jadhav) are simple, unassuming and funny. There are many one liners in the film, which have been used as punches, will surely have the audiences in splits. (more)

Heed this warning: don't get within the earshot of Banjo.
Even the peppy music (Vishal-Shekhar) and the lively lyrics (Amitabh Bhattacharya) cannot bring this comatose film to life. It is just too good at playing dead. Rarely does a film press so much noise into service to achieve so little in the end. Heed this warning: don't get within the earshot of Banjo. (more)

There's a lot to like in this Riteish Deshmukh film
A good musical drama suddenly changes into an average formula tale of a hero with a golden heart, villains who can consider a sudden change of mind, heroine with a knack for dancing and stretched dialogue-baazi. It�s a film by someone who can see Mumbai with indigenous eyes. Scratch the filters and it�s as raw as it always was. Show patience in the second half, and it may work for you. There�s a lot to like in Banjo.(more)

Banjo could be termed as the most boring music-based film ever! It is a haphazard film that tests your patience until the end!
There are ample of loopholes in the presentation, especially silly stuff like the band performs at a club and during the song, we can see all four members dancing. (Hello! It was a live band show!). Also, a shoddy editing is a serious issue for this film. Having complete 2 minute songs that are not adding value to the script is a crime and the makers of Banjo do that more than once. The film runs for 2 hours 17 minutes without even deciding its genre. Vishal-Shekhar's music is high on beats and does make sure you're left foot tapping in the theaters but additions such as 'Pee Paa Ke' are a complete waste of time.(more)
