Pretham is a good, breezy watch with enough laughs and fresh story elements to keep you engaged throughout.

The horror-comedy gets extra points for serving up a smart plot, which seems predictable by the end of first half. But the director turns it on its head by bringing in a relevant tale that makes it easy for the skeptics of the genre to stomach it as well. The use (and misuse) of technology is elemental to the story. The ending though, is a bit stretched, as the filmmaker indulges too much in showing off the aspects of mentalism. (more)

Jayasurya excels in this horror film without chills

The Indian Express Renjith Shankars movie Pretham, supposedly a horror comedy, keeps you waiting for a twist which never comes. What you get instead is a pretty ordinary climax, which is neither memorable nor scary. The only think that rescues Pretham is Jayasuryas performance and some quality camera work.(more)

Watchable

With humourous lines and the attempts to create some eerie moments, Pretham is engaging for sure, though one gets the feeling that this could have been better. If all these fit your bill, give this one a try! (more)

Jayasurya stars in an inconsistent comedy-thriller with an ugly rape quip

Pretham is a partly effective paranormal thriller-cum-comedy, diluted by its mixed-up attitude to women and an ugly rape quip. (more)
