A Must Watch Celebration Of The Legend!
A.R. Rahman�s background score and music adds hugely to this emotional carnival of a film. Although, not very professional, but Sachin�s storytelling is very real and personal, probably the only time you will see master blaster so intimate and up-close. Kudoz to director James Erskine for such a brilliant execution of the master�s life, that you are left wanting for more. (more)

James Erskine has touched upon several issues like his bad phase when his name appeared in the match-fixing controversy, his health issues due to over-practice, how he resigned from the Indian captaincy and later fulfilled his dream by winning the World Cup in 2011 at his home ground, Mumbai, that are noticeable.(more)

Director James Erskine displays a fantastic style in the world of documentary films. He highly succeeds in treating 'Sachin: A Billion Dreams' like a full length feature film. The blend of Sachin's narrative along with real life footages is like a masterstroke from this talented filmmaker. The audio-video narrative by Sachin Tendulkar is amazing. He is so real, genuine and true to his words. The additional narratives by Anjali and others lend fantastic support.(more)

Erskine takes all-too familiar material and makes of it an engrossing film, for both fans who may claim to know more about him that he himself, as well as those who may not live and breathe Sachin. It glides seamlessly from one big ticket event in Sachin�s life to another � the lucking into Achrekar Sir, his coach, the moment he saw Anjali for the first time, the time he held his newborn first, the losing and gaining of the captainship of the Indian time, the vocal disappointment after big losses, and a vital look at the blood and sweat that goes into the making of a successful sports star.(more)

A celebratory documentary that reveals little new
Erskine starts off with a docudrama approach, presenting Sachin the notorious prankster who grew up in a middle class home with his parents and siblings. Sachin the origins story appeals the most as Erskine focuses on Sachin's humble background which makes his extraordinary achievement and simplicity even more impressive. (more)

This Brings Back All Our Sachin Tendulkar Memories
Sachin: A Billion Dreams is thankfully not a biopic. This is a documentary not merely about the man with that name, but one narrated by him, one where he tells his own story in his own words. It is not journalistic or incisive or probing. It feels, instead, intimate - as intimate as it can feel, anyway, for a film where an audience claps and cheers alongside those who clapped and cheered live, years ago.
