Sanam Teri Kasam is excruciatingly painful.

Sanam Teri Kasam are embarrassingly outdated in their thinking they would have us believe that all that a Parthasarathy girl has to do to attain salvation is become a Parihaar. Which century do they live in? On an outing to the market, Saraswati, in order to force song and dance situation, gets high on a swig of bhang. In the next scene, she sheepishly asks Inder: Did I embarrass you? Embarrassment? That is the understatement of the century. Sanam Teri Kasam is excruciatingly painful. The torture it inflicts has as much to do with its length as with what transpires between the start and end points. This is an unmitigated disaster, a travesty of the medium that only a miracle can save from sinking without a trace. (more)

Sanam Teri Kasam is like watching Aashiqui 2; there is lots of weeping on both sides and the audiences are forced to go through so much drama

The films plot could have been better had it not been so larger than life dramatic. Playing to stereotypes is quite typical of Bollywood. So dont be surprised by misrepresentations. Being librarian, Saru has to be geeky and because she has nerdy looks, no guy is good to her and she is filled with self doubt. Arent we done portraying that being pretty gives you self-worth? Other than these obvious faults, the film keeps missing out on detailing like at one point, Inder and Saraswati are at Kullu and he seems to teleport to Mumbai in the next scene.(more)

SANAM TERI KASAM is a decent assortment of good performances and superb music.

SANAM TERI KASAM marks the debut of the film's lead pair. While Harshvardhan Rane is a well-known name down south, Mawra Hocane is a Pakistani actress who is a well-established VJ, model and actress. Harshvardhan Rane puts up an above average act (his miniscule struggles with a couple of scenes notwithstanding). On the other hand, Mawra Hocane shines and excels in the film with her extremely believable and superlative performance. There are places where she overtakes Harshvardhan in terms of performance. It won't be wrong to term her as a 'scene stealer'. Given the right choice of films, she just could be the find of Bollywood this year. Other actors like Manish Choudhary, Murli Sharma, Pyumori Mehta, Divyetta and Rushad Rana deliver convincing performances. On the other hand, the cameos by Vijay Raaz and Sudesh Berry are interesting.(more)

Sanam Teri Kasam is boring!

There is a lot of melodrama, which includes Saru almost getting married to someone else, a lot of rona-dhona, and then a hideous makeover song which has Vijay Raaz dancing with a few hotties. The music is also good, but there is nothing to boast about the story. Skip this one because you won't be missing out on anything special. (more)

Mawra shows us how effervescence can light up the screen

Why does the plot feel so moth-balled, stuffed with outlandish strands a Dharavi-based, skull-capped make-over artist ( Raaz, kicking up his feels with painted-faced extras), a sentimental cop ( Sharma) spouting lines about love and second chances, a screeching banshee who appears momentarily and vanishes, and more.(more)

Sanam Teri Kasam is barely as compelling.

As long as the focus stays on its leads, the film does a good job. Harshavardhan, besides flaunting his perfectly chiseled torso and walking topless all through the film, give his angst some charm. Mawra matches up with her innocence and vulnerability. From Inder softening every time he is around Saraswati, to watching them goof around in Kheech Meri Photo, they are a treat from the word go. You want to invest in these characters but the movie gets shrill over its 155 minutes, a little too sappy for liking and eventually boring. Your heart genuinely goes out to Harsh and Mawra who are let down by their clumsy narrative. (more)
