Though the plot is nothing new, it's well presented with the editing department making the 161-minute runtime a breeze.
The action department deserves applause for making the scenes believable and stylish. It could have been easy to make the action go over the top, especially when the protagonist is a wild hunter outwits a 400 kg tiger with ease. The editing is crisp. Gopi Sundar is in top form with a brilliant accompaniment of rousing theme music that adds to the movie�s mass elements.(more)

Pulimurgan has its issues, but works too
Mohanlal is awesome as ever, be it humor, sentiments or mass. The swiftness he displays in fighting sequences is not something you see from any regular 56 years old. The other cast includes Lal, Kamalini Mukherjee, Jagapati Babu, Bala, Kishore and Suraj Venjarammood and they all have delivered decent performances. The child actor who played Murugan's childhood was the other notable performer as he has the same intensity that Mohanlal has in his eyes. Namita's inclusion in the screenplay is a purposeful attempt to inject humour that could have been avoided.(more)

Mohanlal once again proves that age is just a number, with the spectacular performance in the movie. Pulimurugan is surely a perfect treat for the action movie lovers and Mohanlal fans. But as a film, it has its own flaws, which will disappoint the movie lovers. The movie which has the best-ever action sequences in the history of Mollywood.
