Just before the climax where the story takes a thriller-like turn, there are hardly any nail-biting moments.
Oru Second Class Yatra has a promising premise, but ends up being just half of what it aspires to be. Two convicts with conflicting personalities and events that shaped them up, cops who can't see eye to eye accompanying them, a long train journey and nostalgia-triggering flashback sequences complete with vintage music - the ingredients are interesting, but the treatment, is not.Warring cops Jolly Kurien (Joju George) and Balagopal (Sreejith Ravi) are taking Nandu (Vineeth Sreenivasan) and Maaran (Chemban Vinod) from Kannur jail to Poojappura. Maaran is hardly bothered about his image and is quite jovial, but Nandu appears withdrawn and thoughtful. Halfway through the trip, one of them manages to escape. (more)

Oru Second Class Yathra has a novel theme, yet the execution could have been better.
The first half of the movie is replete with some genuine humor as we are introduced to two jailbirds Nandu (Vineeth Sreenivasan) and Maaran (Chemban Vinod) guarded by two police constables Jolly Kurien (Joju George) and Balagopal (Sreejith Ravi) on their journey from Kannur to Thiruvanathapuram Central jail in the second class compartment of Parashuram Express. The story gets more intriguing as we get to hear Nandus story. The first half holds out much promise.A bit more taut and crisp, with its first half- like narration in the second half too could have taken the movie far ahead. It is not a bad attempt and is very much a family movie and the subject of rape of a different nature is very relevant. Watch it without much expectation and you might be pleasantly surprised. (more)

Oru Second Class Yathra is as enjoyable as a trip in a second-class compartment of a train.
In fact, it is Chemban Vinod Jose who carries the film in his shoulders. Sreejith Ravi and Joju George have performed well too. Just like the title suggests, Oru Second Class Yathra is as enjoyable as a trip in a second-class compartment of a train. Of course, we all travel in those compartments, but does it really excite you? If you have any doubts, experience it yourself.(more)
