A Tribute to Fathers

S/O Satyamurthy is a romantic comedy film with all the necessary ingredients. The movie is a perfect family-cum-youth entertainer. The film entertains classes as well as masses equally. Dances, Dialogues, Comedy and Picturization makes this a watchable movie. There are more films that have dramatized relationship with mothers. S/O Satyamurthy is one of the few rare films that gives utmost importance to father. S/O Satyamurthy is a tribute to every father.(more)

Values and morals

Both Allu Arjun and Trivikram are at high point of their career after delivering Race Gurram and Attarintiki Daaredi respectively. Hence, we expect another hugely satisfying film from their combination. Son of Sathyamurthy has got good intention and good moral values. But director Trivikram didnt succeed in giving a smooth ride for us this time due to ineffective screenplay and too many characters (subplots too). The success of the movie depends on how family crowds lap it up.(more)

The film will appeal to the teenage and young fans

During the first half, you are given a hint about Viraj Anands niece and his responsibility towards her. That thread is let off eventually. Then, there is the time-tested and now oh so boring wedding planner sequence during the first half. Of course, it does provide scope for the item song and shows the la-di-da prince sobering down, it nevertheless bores the audience as similar plots have been used and re-used in almost all the films in Telugu and Hindi in the past few years. And in the second half, a villain from Rayalaseema, even in he is a Tamil-speaking Devraj Naidu on Andhra-Tamil Nadu border, is something that the audience have been fed with for nearly three decades now. So, when the plot comes from Trivikram, the audiences are bound to feel a bit cheated. The first half is so been there seen that, that it lacks freshness and the second half does not have the pace that one expects from a Bunny film. So, one is left wondering if the film will appeal to the teenage and young fans, the core audiences of Bunny.(more)

There are a bunch of interesting moments and well-written dialogues that linger in your mind

At a thematic level, the film sounds near perfect and it almost seems like Trivikram wants us to believe that there is still plenty of hope left in this world. That not everyone is cunning and cruel, and more importantly, your actions will have a long lasting impression on people around you. What's also interesting about the film is that it presents a smartly written character study of Viraj, especially when he tries to dig deep within himself to explore his relationship with his father. His girlfriend, Sameera (Samantha) is a diabetic; Sameera's father (Rajendra Prasad) is obsessed with MONEY; Devaraj himself loves his wife (Sneha) so much that he wouldn't spill any blood in front of her.In the end, there are a bunch of interesting moments and well-written dialogues that linger in your mind. But, this is far from the best works of Trivikram or Allu Arjun in recent times. It's not even the lack of enough number of rip-roaringly hilarious scenes that strikes your mind, but the randomness with which most part of the film has been dealt with that is more jarring. The film works well as an idea, and leaves you with enough questions and thoughts to reflect upon your own life, but as a cinematic experience, it leaves a lot to be desired(more)

It's a family entertainer sans memorable heroism

As for dialogues, there are a few good ones and they are few and far between. Two girls (Aadha Sharma and Samantha here) angling for the hero simultaneously and one rejoicing when he rejects the other is now a recurring feature of Trivikram's films, so it seems.DSP's songs get justification in terms of picturization. If Arjun focuses on steps in one song, he is asked to emote in another.Arjun's performance is good enough but doesn't match up to his Race Gurram or even Jualyi act. Samantha and Nithya Menon are ok and good, respectively. Rajendra Prasad is narcissistic. As for Upendra, he gets the emotions right and his character is not as important as it appeared. At 162 minutes, the film is a bit lengthy. It's a family entertainer sans memorable heroism. The second half will work with a good many number of audience. No big-ticket movies from Tollywood in the offing, this one might make a windfall.(more)

It is a predictable and sloppy family drama

These are some of the best moments in the film, which is otherwise boring.Trivikram, as usual, impresses with his dialogues, which continue to be his strength. After all, here's a filmmaker who started his career as a dialogue writer. His lines rhyme and are easy to remember and are equally powerful, especially when delivered by, say an actor with a baritone like Amitabh Bachchan. There are so many actors and yet their performances are not worthy of a discussion. For instance, Kannada actor Upendra plays the villain and with the kind of powerful introduction he's given, you expect chills to be sent down your spine, but what we get to see is disappointing. The only saving grace is Brahmanandam's comedy, which unfortunately comes quite late in the film.(more)
