Disappoints big time

The action sequences are grippy but the politics of the film lacks any conviction or layering whatsoever. Everything and anything was happening with lack of properly research and developed content. It all seemed a half-hearted attempt with amazing potential left unexplored. Neither it offers any goosebumps, nor it is any bit of engaging.(more)

Kabir Khan is on a roll!

The subject of the film being extremely sensitive, it must have taken oodles of courage to make a film based on it. Kabir Khan does deserve a wolf-whistle for the same. The book couldnt have been adapted page-by-page, and hence the story was shortened and further fictionalised to befit the requirements of the silverscreen. Nonetheless, at a few junctures, cinematic liberties do tend to dilute the concept of realism, thus making them look like mere fantasies.(more)

Not a Must Watch

Kabir Khan had managed to make a decent watch out of Ek Tha Tiger but with Phantom, I do not feel the same. What could have been a much wittier and slick action flick turns out to be a poorly plotted secret mission with an even unimpressive agent. (more)

An action thriller without thrills

Teaming up with his Bajrangi Bhaijaan writer Parveez Shaikh again, Kabir Khan seems to be missing his other partner KV Vijayendra Prasad, who could have brought some much-needed heart to the proceedings. Phantom is a hotchpotch of many Hollywood films such as Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Mission Impossible series, Captain Phillips and towards the end even Titanic. The end result is a thriller sans thrills. (more)

PHANTOM is a good action film which runs high on patriotism

With BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN proving to be one of all time blockbusters, it becomes absolutely needless to say that all eyes are on director Kabir Khan and his latest film PHANTOM, with expectations flying sky-high. Kabir Khan, who is not a newcomer to this political genre (KABUL EXPRESS, NEW YORK, EK THA TIGER) has attempted to keep the flag flying high with PHANTOM. (more)

Movie Review

Based on the book, Mumbai Avengers by Hussain Zaidi, Kabir Khan, fresh from the super-success of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, doesn't extend a hand of friendship to our neighbouring country in this one. Instead, he is clear that if they house the Laskhar-e-Taiba or allow militants like Haris Saeed (the cinema-counterpart of Hafiz Saeed) then the blood-thirsty Indian will take revenge.(more)
