Insipid and Messy

While Bollywood has learnt to officially remake hollywood flicks instead of just shamelessly ripping them off, we still are miles and years away from creating sensible indianised versions of these. Brothers, a remake of Warrior, is a messy affair that just does not engage at any level.(more)

Movie Review

The film's director Karan Malhotra, who had earlier made AGNEEPATH (starring Hrithik Roshan), has tried only too hard to live upto everyone's expectations, which is something that shows in the film. In an attempt to do so, even though he captures the emotions strongly, he starts struggling with the pace in the first half of the film, which is dedicated in establishing the film's set up and the emotional drama. Brothers, in going for the jugular, punches well below its weight.

Director Karan Malhotra�s heavy-handed approach to the material drains out the emotional power of the original. He resorts to storytelling methods that bank on the most fetid of clich�s packaged in a style marked by a fondness for the mawkish. Malhotra continues pretty much in the Agneepath vein, rolling out his thundering scenes like there is no tomorrow, with an earsplitting background score so persistent and so shrill that it deadens the soul.(more)
