Decent Historical Drama

One of the striking points is the scale of the film. The huge budget spent is clearly visible in the form of huge sets and VFX work. Allu Arjun is undoubtedly the major highlight of the film. Gunasekhar has designed his character supremely well and Bunny does an awesome job with his diction and rugged look. The way stylish star has infused a comedy touch into his character is remarkable.(more)

A War Between Realism & Commerciality

Rudhramadevi is expected to be a technically rich film but unfortunately, it has come out as a half baked project considering its budget limitations. What ever the reasons might be, everything about it is mediocre. Poor CG work stops you at the doors of Kakatiya kingdom and rejects you to travel along. (more)

Saho Gona Ganna Reddy

The first half is fast paced with interesting interludes offered by Suman and gang but their pettiness needed some creative dialogue-writing, which is found wanting here. Baba Sehgal is outshined by Suman, surprisingly, who dignifies cheapness with his demeanour. He is surely one under-rated and under-utilized talent. Prakash Raj clearly eclipses Krishnam Raj, not thanklessly, but he should have arrived with an authentic dialect and accent so as to keep the actor Prakash Raj we know at an arm's length. (more)

The queen has her moments

This is a historical set in the 13th century while the latter had the advantage of unfolding in a mythical kingdom and not adhering to a time frame. The ingenious weapons and the long drawn battle sequence added to the visual spectacle. The war portion of Rudhramadevi has a few moments of high the attack and defence formations and a spirited Rudhramadevi tearing into her opponents but dont go expecting another spectacle.(more)

Overall, the film gives a fair insight into this historical biopic.

While, Director Gunashekar takes a few cinematic and creative liberties in presenting this tale, he ensures the film is technically sound.Mounted on an epic scale the film is visually imposing with; elaborate sets, life-like battle scenes, colourful costumes and well-choreographed songs.(more)

Good Effort Gone Awry

Director Gunasekhar also wastes time on the male disguised female Rudramadevi, showing little on the noble and adventure activities of the great Kakatiya queen. Her great works are mentioned but not shown. Also more focus was shown on the songs, the romance between Anushka and Rana which doesnt impress at all. (more)
