Dont Make The Galti Se Mistake Of Missing This!

Anurag Basu takes you on a musical adventurous journey. The film is engaging from the very beginning. However, it tends to stretch in the beginning of the second half and it could be tiring to hold your patience here. A little more effort was needed on the films editing. The film regains pace as it moves towards the climax. Basu has chosen a set of excellent and veteran actors in the form of Bengali actors Saswata Chatterjee, Rajatava Dutta, and Bollywood actor Saurabh Shukla, all of who play major roles in the film.(more)

Ranbir Kapoor Does The Heavy Lifting, Katrina Kaif Plays Second Fiddle

Thanks to the peppy music and the bright and varied colour palette used by director Anurag Basu and director of photography S Ravi Varman, Jagga Jasoos is never less than entertaining. If only it had greater consistency as a story, it would have been an unqualified triumph. It isn't. That's a shame because in terms of its conception and execution the film does exude warmth and joyful abandon. It is intermittently infectious all right and that might prompt the audience to overlook some of the glitches that stares us in the face.(more)

Plunge into Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaifs world full of dreams

Basu goes for a musical which, in a way, provides Jagga a chance to ditch his stammering and go for some vividly penned ballads. Always longing for his missing father Tooti Footi (Saswata Chatterjee), Jagga is someone who you can immediately like. For all his Tintin-inspired adventures, he is fighting inner demons like most of us. A chance meeting with a Kolkata-based journalist Shruti (Katrina Kaif) pushes him to go for the journey of his life that crosses through Thailands beaches and Moroccan desserts.(more)

Movie review

Anurag Basus unique vision makes this otherwise predictable story thoroughly watchable. The movie lulls when it bends backwards to conform to Bollywood logic. Traditional songs like Ullu Ka Paththa and Galti Se Mistake dont have the essence of the musical genre. Jagga stumbles into an illegal arms racket and the cat-and-mouse chase between him and an evil intelligence officer (Saurabh Shukla) overburden the second half and push the movie to rushed solutions. To compare, that earlier Ms Mala song offers far more in terms of conflict resolution and a climactic feel.(more)

Movie Review

Those spreading negativity about JAGGA JASOOS were a bit silenced once the teaser and trailer were out. Both showcased the grandeur of the film and also the musical, fantasy element beautifully. However, despite being technically brilliant and boasting of top-class VFX, director Anurag Basu fails to do justice. JAGGA JASOOS commences as a lovely musical children's film, but it still gives one sense of deja vu of BARFI. Even the 'Picture Shuru' theme is played here, just like in BARFI. But this song suits JAGGA JASOOS more thanks to its musical theme. (more)

Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoors musical is truly a GALTI SE MISTAKE

Jagga Jasoos also is highly inspired by the Harry Potter series and the popular TinTin comic books. Jagga is an odd mix of these two with shades of Sherlock Holmes. Ranbir Kapoor plays the stammering child who can only converse through songs to have a meaningful dialogue. Katrina Kaif plays the narrator and his sidekick on this roller coaster adventure that pans out on screen through colourful chapters. Basus technique breaks the shackles of a linear storytelling attempting to do something different and unique. There are also parts that have political references to various times in history, some real others fictions.(more)
